The Last Shift

A retiring fire captain takes on a court-ordered teenage placement he never asked for — and finds the kid needs a lot more than eighty hours of community service. A warm story about mentorship, second chances, and showing up for someone who's stopped expecting it.

“Captain Rueben Osei had thirty-one years with the Millhaven Fire Department and exactly one month left before retirement when the chief assigned him a community-service placement he hadn't asked for.”
