The Hardware on Finch Street

A widow and her son-in-law, bound only by the same loss, keep a family hardware store running while quietly avoiding the grief neither knows how to share. A moving story about family, silence, and finally learning to grieve out loud together.

“Ruth Abernathy had run Abernathy Hardware with her husband Gene for thirty-four years, and after his sudden heart attack, she found herself keeping the store open not entirely by choice but because he had never once mentioned wanting it any other way.”
